Truly a Beauty

What makes you beautiful?
What does beautiful mean?
Who defines beauty?
How do you define beauty?

Take a moment to process and think about your answers to these questions.....

GIRLS!! We ask these questions every day don't we? Or at least we deal with it on a daily, hourly and minute basis. But why? Why do we strive for this perfection of beauty that the world has given us. Being a girl and talking with girls I have this discussion A LOT! I am continually inspired by other ladies and their thoughts, encouragement and knowledge on beauty.

Many of you know my story. If not, read it here.

I love talking with others about beauty and what it truly is. I have been on both sides of the coin and go back and forth sometimes. There are so many 'sayings' that we have all heard and yet we don't really understand their impact or their meaning like: 'True beauty is timeless' or 'What's on the inside is what really matters' and I could go on and on. And yet these all have validity and truth to them, but we just say them, or tell others them because we think others are beautiful and need to know it, but we also need to hear it. If we break these sayings down though I bet we can see their importance...

If true beauty is timeless- then it couldn't mean our physical beauty because that changes all the time- we are all getting older and we are all changing. There is a stigma out there that you have to be perfect and beautiful but never change- how is this even possible! But who you are on the inside you can choose and how you allow that you be portrayed to others by what you say and how you treat them. THAT IS what really matters because that is the depth of who we really are and that is what people will remember. Just because someone has a pretty face or cute clothes on, doesn't say anything about them- they could be the nicest or the cruelest person- have you seen the movie Shallow Hal.

If what's on the inside is what really matters- we would see others for who they are, and we would judge ourselves accordingly. We want others to know who they are is so important because many of us have experienced loving someone and enjoying their company, conversation and their beauty but not even thinking about what they look like.

If you exude confidence in your beauty knowing that you are lovely, wonderful and beautiful because you love others and you show it, that will be your true beauty because others will know that you are truly beautiful. This is not to say be prideful and full of yourself- that is completely different than confidence. Confidence is believing in yourself and loving yourself because you know you have something special to offer in  your friendship and in your uniqueness.

Beauty is actually one of my favorite subjects to talk about because I love telling girls about how beautiful they are! But not just because I think they are beautiful, or just because their friends think they are beautiful, but because they truly are.

Take time to remind someome this week why they are beautiful to you by telling them, writing them a note or making a sweet gesture.
